The Perfect Family

“These boys are not related to me in any shape or form.”

“How can you say that?” Simi’s eyes floods. “I carried these boys in my womb for ten whole months and nearly died on the surgery table.”

Mr. Akande poses as the patriarch of the perfect Nigerian family. After choosing the best wife, what else would he be seen as?

He wants to continue his lineage of perfection and believes that his daughter-in-law, Simi, and her twin sons are blots that must be removed.

So, he invites his son’s family back to Nigeria under the guise of taking a family picture to prove Simi’s infidelity regardless of the cost to himself and his son.

After all, the perfect family is the most important thing in the world and the blots must be removed before the photographer arrives.

Colours of Joy

She jerked at the sound of her name. Her hands jostled as she capped the bottle before turning to face the woman who had peered into the bathroom.

“Yes?” She held the pills behind her back.

“Are you okay?”

“Erm.. Yes, I am.” Durotayo hoped she looked in control of her feelings.

She had started to lose her control in the party. It had started with yelling, then screaming before she felt the dread of loss that had characterized her life.
